Taken from the CIF complex. The small slab of concrete that has support equipment parked on it used to be the "Nose Dock" hanger. One of the few buildings on the airfield when I was here back in 76. |

The next picture is a closeup of the area with trees in the center of this pic, just to the left of the airfield. The area sure has changed since 1976 when I was here as part of a USN mission, VP-49 Woodpeckers. |

In 76 when I was here, there were metal quonset huts on those cement slabs that we stayed in back then. |

The RSA dishes (Range Standardization and Automation) at the CIF site. While I was on the island these dishes were activated. One of there many uses was to increase the number of phone lines back to the states. A great morale booster for all!! |

The marker on Red Hill - It gets changed by each aircrew that flys in on the Air Force plane about once a month. |

Barracks parking lot - AFRTS dish |
A little better close up standing at my barracks door. That is the AFRTS dish.(Armed Forces Radio Television Service). There is a steep incline just on the other side of those vehicles so only about half the dish is visible |

Wild donkeys that roam the island |
They have free run of the entire island except for the airfield and runway area. I believe thats for the donkeys saftey and not the planes that come and go!! |
One of the locals told me that many years ago the donkeys were brought to the island and were used to transport water down from the catch basins on Green Mountain. Once they were no longer needed the Queen granted their freedom. |
