I will work on this page more later on but for now I wanted to get it posted to the web site so the web bots would gather the page/key words and make it available on the web for anyone who, god forbid, should be considering hiring Dan to do any kind of home improvement work.
My opinion of Dan Miller is not good. I am providing Dan some free web advertising in the hopes of helping someone else from making the same mistake I did. I hope anyone searching on the internet that lives in the Plant City, Lakeland area on the west to, well, I would imagine maybe as far as St Cloud on the east with Winter Haven, Auburndale, Lake Alfred, Lake Hamilton, Dundee, in between. Clermont, Groveland, Winter Garden, Davenport, Kissimmee, Loughman, to the north. To the south there's Bartow, Lake Wales, Avon Park. It's just hard to say how far a skunk will travel from it's hole.
Excuse my listing all the city/town names I can think of. I have to include them in order for the web bots to store them in the big database so anyone searching using keywords found on this page like drywall and one of the city/town names will be presented with this page.

Dan is a very likeable guy. He knows his business and he can make you feel comfortable that things will be done right. Why he doesn't do a good job is beyond me.
I consider Dan a jack of all trades and a master of none. He really screwed me over and left me with a real mess on my hands. I say jack of all trades because he has told me so. Looking back I realize that he warned me all about himself, but I missed it. Well, I didn't miss it as I wondered about his comments, but now I realize that I should have run him off right then. It was his first day on the job and at some point he asked me who was going to put in the carpet? It took me a little by surprise as I had not even worried about carpet at that point and told him so. He informs me he also lays carpet. It caught me off guard but my immediate thought was "Oh boy, a drywall man that has time to install carpet". I should have sent him packing right then.
I found out later that he also builds docks and decks and is even a painter. I wouldn't be surprised if he claims to be a framer or maybe even a block layer. Like I said, jack of all trades, Master of none!! I believe that if a man is good at what he does then that's all he does. He won't have time to lay carpet, build docks, and also be a painter, because he will have too many jobs lined up.

We hired Dan to do our drywall and later on we agreed to let him do the interior painting. Within 2 days I fired his helper, Sonny. I will try to get a last name for him as he was about as good at hanging drywall as a one armed barber with the crabs. The guy could not read a tape.
I had to buy horse blankets for outlet/switch covers to hide the cutouts that were made. There are quite a few outlet and switch cutouts that cannot be covered up by the largest size cover. These will require more tape and mudding that I shouldn't have to do.
The paint job looked ok until you really looked at it. Then the flaws with the mud started showing thru the paint.
If I could, I would stop payment on the last check we gave him.
I remember my grandpa talking about painters that weren't worth a shit. He would say that this painter would paint anything that didn't move!!
Dan's license number as printed on his invoice - I will post a JPG scan of the invoice later as I update this page. You can bet that I will get this updated soon. I want to help Dan out as much as I can.

UPDATE Oct 2006: It's been 2 years now and I finally found time to revise this page. It seems Dan the Man does not have any kind of license for anything! I'm not sure if he even has a drivers license. According to the State of Florida web site he has no professional license of any kind, nor has he ever had one that I can find by searching for his name or the bogus number he had on his invoice. I will follow up on this some more as I find the time. Yes, I know, I should have searched before but we were overwhelmed by rebuilding after the storms and there were a lot of other priorities that were more important at the time.
