Masonite Door

Beautiful Door My Ass!!

I regret the day we bought a French Door from The Home Depot that was built by the Masonite Door Company.

I will update this page later and tell the full story but for now I hope to warn other prospective customers looking for a door to avoid the Masonite doors like the plague!!

I found out by having Masonite send out a repairman who just happened to spill the beans when he setup the appointment that he handled the warranty issues for the Stanley Co.  When I told him there had to be a mistake as I didn't buy a Stanley door I was informed that the Stanley Co owned the Masonite Door Co.

I have posted links on this web site that will take you to another web site that will inform you more about the Stanley Co.

Once I found out that our Masonite door was really a Stanley door,  I told Harriet that we were screwed as they won't do anything for us and by god I was right.

Once you read the material on one of these site's you will never again buy a Stanley product.

Check out Mac Tools Suck!   and   Stanley Sucks for the whole story!

Update 03-12-2012

I removed the links to the above as none of them work anymore.  I can only guess that the person that hosted them gave up and closed the web site down.  It's a shame as there was a lot of good info that the Stanley Company did not want you to know!!

UPDATE 11/27/08

I have been to busy to mess with the web site so I never got around to telling the complete story about my experience with a Masonite Door.

It was brought to my attention by some jerk that was to chicken shit to leave a name or anything else that would lend credibility.  He apparently works for (or used to) the Masonite Co.

Here is a copy of the comments he left me

Comments:

FYI-Masonite Doors bought Stanley Doors in 2004. If you bought a Masonite Door in 2004-2005, it was a Masonite Door. If you bought a Stanley Door in 2004-2005 it was still manufactured by Stanley at that time. Any customers who owned an actually Stanley built door prior to Masonite buying out Stanley doors would have been dealing with a Stanley built product.  It is not fair to say that Masonite was the problem as Masonite had nothing to do with the manufacturing of that door. Stanley still handled their own warranty issues seperate from Masonite until sometime in 2005......just thought you should know since you are attempting to drag the wrong company through the mud....

So I only know this guy as Mr. 24.99.33.252  The IP originates from Comcast Cable Communications Holdings, Inc ATLANTA-24 from the Atlanta, Georgia area.  I could track him to his front door with that IP address but it's not worth the effort.  So I'll just call him Mr. 24.99.33.252.

I started looking on the net for information on the claims of Mr. 24.99.33.252

Turns out he may be right.  See this site http://www.fool.com/investing/small-cap/2004/12/23/masonite-opens-door-for-buyout.aspx  I would imagine the Stanly door company had been sufficiently run in the ground so they sold it off.  Just my hunch after reading what Stanly did to other company's they bought out.

But in my quest I found even more folks upset with Masonite Doors.  Imagine That !!

I'm glad I found the link above as we are in the process of adding a very large addition onto our house and we have plans for pocket doors.  You can bet your bottom dollar that they won't come from the Masonite company. Or Home Depot!!

So in response to Mr. 24.99.33.252,  When I called the number that was provided me by Home Depot, the phone was answered by some Stanley service company.  Took me off guard for a moment as I thought the guy at Home depot gave me a wrong number so I was surprised when I apologized for dialing the wrong number as I was looking for service for Masonite I was quickly informed I had the right number.  Then when the service tech came as I explained above he reinforced what I thought I knew so I still wonder just who bought who!!
